ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - A woman was shot and is in critical condition after she was hit with celebratory gunfire in DeKalb County on Saturday night, police said.

The shooting took place on July Fourth just after 11:30 p.m. in the 7500 block of Clear Creek Drive, police said.

When officers arrived, they found the woman suffering from a gunshot wound. She was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical but stable condition, police said.

A preliminary investigation indicates the woman was inside the home when she was struck by a round of celebratory gunfire that came from outside home, police said.

Police have not indicated if anyone will face charges. They have also not identified any suspects or the victim's name at this time.

The investigation is ongoing.
