ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - A man and woman were killed Sunday after gunfire rang out during a domestic dispute, Atlanta police said. Around 11:30 a.m., officers responding to a shots fired call were flagged down by a man that alerted them to an apartment complex in the 100 block of Mount Zion Road. When officers arrived, they were met by a man who had barricaded himself inside the apartment. Police were soon able to enter the apartment, which is when they found a 46-year-old Black man and a 45-year-old Black woman deceased. It looks like this was a couple, and they were involved in some kind of domestic dispute this morning, which led to some gunfire, an APD spokesperson told Atlanta News First. We're still working on the specifics of their relationship and how long they've been together. The man who flagged the officers down was inside the home when the shooting occurred. He was awoken by the gunfire, police said. APD has notified the kin of the couple, but is continuing to collect information about the circumstances that led up to the deadly violence before they release their identities. This is a developing story. Please stay with Atlanta News First as we learn more. #atlantanewsfirst #crimewatchatlanta
