The Brief Hogansville police are investigating a highway road rage shooting on Monday evening that left a driver hospitalized after a gun was fired. A suspect was safely captured in Hogansville following a police car chase through Troup County on Tuesday afternoon. Investigators are looking for witnesses who were driving near the southbound Interstate 85 Exit 28 off-ramp during the confrontation.



A driver is recovering in a local hospital after being shot during an interstate road rage confrontation on Monday evening, according to the Hogansville Police Department.

What we know:

The shooting happened on Monday between roughly 6:30 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. on the southbound I-85 Exit 28 off-ramp.

Investigators said a silver passenger car and a dark SUV or van with South Carolina plates clashed in a road rage incident immediately before the shooting.

The victim was shot but is expected to survive and is receiving medical treatment at a local hospital.

On Tuesday afternoon, police safely took a suspect into custody on Ware Street in Hogansville.

This capture followed a vehicle pursuit through Troup County, and officers turned the suspect over to the Troup County Sheriff's Office.

What we don't know:

Officials have not yet confirmed the identity of the hospitalized victim or the captured suspect.

Police have not yet released the specific charges the suspect faces, and it remains unclear what behavior started the road rage incident on the highway before the trigger was pulled.
