Add Us On Google Add as a preferred source on Google ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - A 75-year-old woman was shot in East Point on Wednesday morning, according to police. Around 9:40 a.m., East Point police said they responded to a person shot in the area of Washington Road and Camp Creek Parkway, where a gas station and several other businesses are located. Officers were initially dispatched to a reported fall injury, but while en route the call was upgraded to a person shot after first responders determined the victim, a 75-year-old woman, was suffering a gunshot wound. The victim had already been placed in an ambulance when officers arrived. Police said employees near the crime scene told officers they were familiar with the victim, and that she routinely visits the area to distribute food to members of the community. Witnesses told officers they arrived after the shooting happened. Officers searched the area for more witnesses, reviewed surveillance footage from nearby businesses and looked for additional evidence. Police have not announced suspects or said what led up to the shooting. The victim's condition is currently unknown. This is a developing story.
