ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Colt Gray, the teen accused of killing four people and injuring nine others in 2024's deadly Apalachee High School shooting, is expected in Barrow County Court on Friday morning.

Colt previously pleaded not guilty, but Friday's hearing is listed as a plea deal and sentencing, indicating he will change his plea to guilty. Atlanta News First will stream the proceedings live starting at 9 a.m.

Nicholas Primm, chief judge of the Piedmont Judicial Circuit, had given Colt until the end of July to reach an agreement ahead of his trial, which had been scheduled to begin in October in Columbia County.

Colt's father, Colin Gray, is scheduled to be sentenced after he was convicted earlier this year on charges he allowed his son access to the AR-style rifle recovered after the shooting, as well as a variety of ammunition and accessories recovered at the crime scene and at Colin's residence.

Colin's sentencing hearing is set for July 28-29 in Barrow County.

Prosecutors said Colin knowingly allowed his son access to firearms despite his knowledge of his son's unstable mental and emotional condition.

Colin was found guilty of two counts of second-degree murder, two counts of involuntary manslaughter, five counts of reckless conduct and 18 counts of second-degree cruelty to children. He is facing a maximum of 180 years in prison.

Teachers Cristinia Irimie and Richard Aspinwall and 14-year-old students Mason Schermerhorn and Christian Angulo were killed in the shooting. Nine others were also hospitalized.
