ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - A man accused of trying to kidnap a child at a Cobb County gas station told people he had a gun during the incident, according to an arrest warrant.

Marietta Police Department records show the incident happened July 23 between midnight and 1:30 a.m. Police identified the suspect as Jerahn Rashad Tucker.

Atlanta News First obtained surveillance video that shows a woman, identified by police as the children's mother, walking two children into the convenience store. Tucker, shirtless and barefoot in the video, gets out of a car and enters the store.

After the family leaves, the mother begins pumping gas. The video then skips ahead about 30 seconds.

Tucker is next seen near the woman's car, looking through the windows, according to the video. One child appears to jump out and run away. The mother puts the child back in the vehicle as Tucker continues circling the car and looking inside.

Moments later, the child jumps out again. At one point, the mother raises the gas pump in what appears to be an attempt to fend Tucker off, the video shows.

Several men then walk over. The gas station manager told Atlanta News First they were customers who had been inside the store. Tucker eventually drove off, and police later tracked him down and arrested him.

A gas station employee said he noticed the disturbance outside.

 I saw a commotion outside like someone was running after a small kid. Then eventually I saw the police,  said Ali Joof, a gas station employee.  Some of our customers they went outside and they were trying to calm the situation. 

Joof said Tucker is a regular customer.

 He's a regular customer here though. He comes here almost every day,  Joof said.

The arrest warrant states Tucker at one point grabbed a child who was in the back seat.

Tucker was arrested on charges of attempted kidnapping, assault and possession of a controlled substance, records show. He is being held without bond.
