(Atlanta News First) - Days after she was assaulted and robbed in broad daylight in Midtown Atlanta, Georgia State University student Amaris Coleman says she is still healing from the attack and afraid the suspect could strike again. Coleman told Atlanta News First she is staying with family outside Atlanta while she recovers. I feel so humbled, Coleman said. I'm 110 pounds, I'm minding my business, and the fact that you sought me? Police identified the suspect as 31-year-old Phelan Thorpe. Coleman said she had never seen Thorpe before the attack. She said he followed her off a MARTA train onto 10th Street on Saturday afternoon. That's when he proceeds to act like he's on the phone, and he says, Yeah, I got the pistol. She ain't going nowhere,' Coleman said. He looks directly at me. And that's when you kind of see us square off, she said. I'm like, Excuse me, excuse me,' still trying to be polite because I'm like, How may I help you?' But at this point I'm like, if something's about to happen, What do you need from me, basically, because you keep - you're, like, on my person. I don't know you.' Coleman said Thorpe then attacked her and the two fought over her purse. I'm kicking, I'm screaming. I'm in the middle of the road, so I've stopped traffic, she said. Coleman said she tried to grab her phone during the struggle and broke her nails. I'm scraping for my phone. I'm breaking my nails, that I was on the way to fix, in the process, and that's when he punches me in my back. And I know at that point, I just stop, she said. Coleman said she saw people watching the attack but did not blame them for not intervening. That type of thing, that's either in you or it's not, she said. And so many people think they have that level of empathy and regards for humans, but they don't. Coleman said Thorpe also changed the outgoing voicemail message #atlantanewsfirst #crimewatchatlanta
