(Atlanta News First) - A Decatur man has been indicted on multiple charges after police say he violently killed his ex-girlfriend at her apartment in July. On Tuesday, a DeKalb County grand jury charged 57-year-old Laharry Ward with malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault and violating a family violence order in connection with the death of 43-year-old Tokya Biggs. On July 21, DeKalb County police were called to an apartment complex on Friendly Heights Boulevard, the DeKalb County District Attorney's Office said. Biggs' body was found on the floor of her unit with multiple stab wounds and other injuries from repeated hits to the head, according to prosecutors. A month earlier, Ward had been arrested and charged with family violence battery against Biggs. His bond conditions banned him from having any contact with her, but surveillance video from the complex showed him at Biggs' apartment near when she died, the district attorney's office said. Ward was arrested on July 29 and has been in DeKalb County Jail without bond since. This is a developing story.
