SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. - A road rage incident on Georgia 400 left a driver shot in both arms. More than two years later, the man accused of opening fire has been arrested in New York City. According to Sandy Springs police, officers were called to northbound GA 400 near Windsor Parkway around 7:14 a.m. on Sept. 30, 2024, after a driver was shot during a confrontation involving aggressive driving.' Police said the suspect, who was driving a dark-colored Tesla, fired four rounds into the victim's vehicle, hitting the driver in both arms. The victim was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening. Sandy Springs police detectives worked to identify the shooter. The investigation took a significant turn in February 2025, when Cartersville police investigated a separate shooting involving similar circumstances. During that investigation, officers identified and arrested Malvin Fajardo-Perez on charges including aggravated assault, reckless conduct, criminal damage to property and discharging a firearm near a public roadway. Evidence gathered during the Cartersville investigation helped investigators connect Fajardo-Perez to the shooting on GA 400, according to Sandy Springs police. Detectives obtained arrest warrants charging Fajardo-Perez with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, first-degree criminal damage to property and discharging a firearm on or near a public roadway. Fajardo-Perez was arrested in New York City on Oct. 17. He remains in custody and is awaiting extradition to Georgia to face the charges related to the Sandy Springs shooting. 2026 Cox Media Group #wsbtv #crimewatchatlanta
