COWETA COUNTY, Ga. - A hunter says he was forced to hide in his deer stand when someone opened fire on the woods he was in. According to a police report, a Coweta County man said that he was sitting in his deer stand trying to bow hunt when he heard two cars pull into his driveway. That's when he saw two people walk up to his door and start banging before firing six to seven shots in his direction, so he took cover. He told authorities that he believed the person shooting at him was his stepdaughter's girlfriend, who he did not approve of. He said that earlier the same day, she had messaged him, accusing him of being a child molester and called him several times. When he did not answer, he says she messaged him that he was scared to answer the phone and his day is coming. The victim added that someone previously came onto his property and punctured his tire. Deputies detained the stepdaughter's girlfriend and another person. It is unclear whether they were formally charged. 2026 Cox Media Group #wsbtv #crimewatchatlanta
