A Jonesboro woman is accused of impersonating a police officer in a phone scheme. According to the North Charleston Police Department in South Carolina, the victim reported the scheme on Dec. 4, 2025, several days after receiving a suspicious call. The woman told police that on Nov. 30, she was at a pharmacy when a caller identifying himself as Sgt. Daniels with the Charleston County Detention Center contacted her. The caller allegedly claimed her son had been arrested for marijuana possession and demanded $850 in bail money. Believing the call was legitimate, the victim sent the money through Zelle to someone presented as a bail bondsman in Greenville. Police said the payment was made using a Georgia phone number associated with Kadrain Mitchell, 35, of Jonesboro. The victim later learned from her son that the call was fake. After a lengthy investigation, Mitchell, 35, surrendered to police at North Charleston City Hall on Oct. 19, according to police. She was charged with breach of trust and impersonating a police officer. 2026 Cox Media Group #wsbtv #crimewatchatlanta
