A southwest section of the City of Atlanta could be getting a new option for quenching its thirst. At Monday's Zoning Committee meeting, Atlanta councilmembers approved an application for a microbrewery in the Capitol View neighborhood. But there are still more steps before the project can break ground. The request for a zoning change was submitted by Fun Ventures, LLC, doing business as Khonso Brewing on Dill Avenue. With the support of the Capitol View Neighborhood Association, a permit application to create a microbrewery and taproom was submitted to the council. Members of the association sent a letter of support to the city council, saying in part that after a careful review of Khonso Brewing's request, the project was the type of use we would like to see in the neighborhood. On Monday, the request was approved unanimously, meaning development on the taproom can begin, once the usual safety and construction permits are in order. As part of the decision, city councilmembers had to add microbrewery as an allowable use for permitting applications. Now passed in the committee, the Atlanta Chief of Staff, City Clerk, Commissioner of City Planning and other relevant or appropriate officials can make non-substantive changes to the city's Code of Ordinances to adopt the amended list of zoning uses. The next step in the process will be with the Zoning Review Board. 2026 Cox Media Group #wsbtv #crimewatchatlanta
