Kennedy's last relationship was with Ally Lewber, with their romance being featured on Seasons 10 and 11 of Vanderpump Rules.

They broke up in January 2025 after Kennedy was cleared of charges in a domestic violence arrest in December 2024.

Lewber, 34, said on social media at the time she was happy that prosecutors decided not to file against James as I never desired criminal charges.

She added, We had an argument outside of his home related to him drinking again, however, I was not physically hurt.

After his arrest, Kennedy wrote on Instagram, I am committed to making meaningful changes in my life. I am taking time to focus on my sobriety, personal growth and being present for my loved ones.

Lewber addressed Kennedy's baby news for the first time on Scheana Shay's Scheananigans podcast on May 15 and admitted she didn't know her ex had a new girlfriend.

But the Perfect Match star wished Kennedy the best and pointed out that he's always wanted to be a dad.
