Three children were killed, and two others were critically injured in an overnight house fire in Canton, according to the Van Zandt County fire marshal.

The children who died were ages 3, 5, and 8.

A 10-year-old boy and an adult woman were taken to Parkland Hospital in Dallas, where officials said they were in critical condition.

The fire marshal said crews received a call around 12:30 a.m. reporting people trapped inside a home off County Road 4127 in Canton.


The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The fire marshal said additional information would be released later Wednesday.
