A 62-year-old Warren man was killed over the weekend when he was struck by a vehicle while teaching his teenage daughter how to drive, police said Monday, Sept. 28. The incident took place about 4 p.m. Sunday in the 24000 block of Warner Avenue near Stephens Road as the victim was giving his 18-year-old daughter driving lessons. According to a preliminary investigation, the daughter struck her father with the vehicle. After striking her father, the woman's vehicle dragged him a short distance before stopping, police said. Warren police and fire personnel responded to the scene. Authorities said the victim was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The 18-year-old driver remained at the scene and fully cooperated with investigators, police said in a news release. Investigators have confirmed that drugs and alcohol are not suspected factors in the incident. The preliminary evidence appears consistent with the daughter's description of this incident, police said. Members of the Warren Police Department Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit are investigating the crash.
