ed, began working for her in July 2025. For nearly a year, Dame said, the caregiver appeared to be someone she could trust. She was good to me. She took me shopping. She took care of my animals. She cooked for me. She did my laundry. She pulled weeds. She did everything for me, Dame said. Dame said she never suspected the woman was allegedly taking her money. She could look in my face and sit here and talk to me… while she's taking my money out of my money machine, Dame said. I think she's a witch. Dame said the caregiver allegedly took her ATM card from her wallet and would stop at an ATM early in the morning before coming to the house, take $500, then return to the ATM after leaving work and take more money. Dame said she didn't initially know because she was not receiving her monthly bank statements -- she said her mailed statements began disappearing. Family discovers alleged withdrawals Dame's daughter, Constance Wisniewski, said the family initially had no reason to suspect the caregiver. Wisniewski said she interviewed her after she was referred by a previous client, and she became so trusted that the family helped her financially when she said she was struggling during a divorce. Wisniewski said she personally gave the caregiver about $4,000 as a gift. She also said she gave the caregiver $100 every week in addition to her salary because she knew the woman was struggling. Then, Wisniewski said, her sister noticed something unusual in their mother's bank account. My sister… randomly, thought when she was checking her own bank account, she checked my mom's because we're linked, Wisniewski told Local 4. There was a whole line of $500 withdrawals daily for as far as we could see. The next morning, Wisniewski went to her mother's house and asked for her ATM card. She said the card was not in her mother's purse. The family then went to the bank and police. Family says caregiver admitted taking money Wisniewski said the family confronted the caregiver after discovering the withdrawals. She definitely admitted she took it, but… she just kept saying, it wasn't that much it wasn't that much,' Wisniewski said. Wisniewski said the caregiver also said she would put the money back. It just made no sense. She has no means to put it back, Wisniewski said. The family said they later discovered other transactions they believe were made without Dame's permission - allegedly using it for her own groceries and other items. She said the family believes the alleged theft began escalating over the last six months. Now I'm scared to trust anybody… but my kids, Dame said. She has no conscience. I think she's a witch… She doesn't feel bad. Maybe she figures I'm old and I don't need the money. I need that money. New caregiver calls alleged theft extremely cruel' Connie Kincer, owner of Compassionate Heart Home Healthcare, now provides care for Dame and said she has worked in the industry for 34 years. When I first was hired on, and I got knowledge of what this former caregiver had done. I was extremely sick to my stomach, Kinster said. What she has done is extremely cruel, and I feel really bad for the family. I would love to see justice done. I hope to God that she is not doing this to another family, because it's just wrong and it's cruel, and it is a crime to abuse the elderly, she said.
