A 16-year-old Allen Park male has been charged with second-degree murder as an adult for the August shooting death of a Roseville father while he was sitting in a vehicle. Quadir Watson was arraigned on the charge in 39th District Court on Tuesday for the slaying of Walter Bryant, 40, who was shot as he sat in the vehicle parked near his home on Lawn Street in the area of Gratiot Avenue and Frazho Road. Age does not erase accountability, Macomb County Prosecutor Pete Lucido said in a press release. When juveniles are accused of committing serious violent crimes, they must face the consequences established by law for their actions. Bryant was shot in the head at about 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, authorities said. His assailant fled the scene. The Roseville police Criminal Investigation Division investigated with assistance from the FBI Macomb County Violent Crimes Task Force. Roseville detectives developed a juvenile suspect, obtained a warrant and arrested Watson on Tuesday, Roseville police said in a press release. Watson was taken into custody with the help of the U.S. Marshals Service. Bryant was a married father of four children. The incident shocked and scared neighbors as they described the area as typically quiet. The night of the shooting, there was a party taking place on Lawn Street. Residents said they heard one gunshot before a crowd began screaming and running away. The deadly shooting was the second spate of violence within a week in the same area. Three people were shot in the parking lot of Athena Banquet Center on Gratiot south of Frazho on Aug. 8 during a wedding reception. Another man suffered a broken hip when he was struck by a car fleeing the scene and another person sustained a deep laceration to the hand in that incident. I've lived here over 50 years. Try to live a peaceful, quiet life. That's not peaceful and quiet. We're leaving. I'll sell this house. I'll be gone, an unnamed resident told CBS News Detroit two days after the incident. Roseville district Judge Boedeker denied bond for Watson, who will be detained in the Juvenile Justice Center #thenewsherald #CrimeInTheD ®
