the shoulder, Bettison said. Both victims were taken for medical treatment and were reported to be in stable condition. Police expect both to survive. Brent called on anyone who recognizes the suspect or has information about his whereabouts to contact authorities. I just strongly encourage the community. If you know who this fellow is, if you have any idea who this fella might be, just strongly encouraging returning self in to call, you know, call 911, call 1-800-SPEAK-UP, call the police department, Brent said. Brent emphasized that the dispute should have been handled through communication and conflict resolution rather than violence. This was preventable, Brent said. And there is absolutely no place for this gentleman to hide, no place for him to go. There's no cover for him. Brent said the shooting harmed not only the woman and her daughter but also the surrounding community and apartment complex. He said officials must prioritize the victims' recovery while locating the suspect and ensuring accountability. We have folks who have been harmed. This community has been harmed, this complex has been harmed, Brent said. So we have to address the harm first and foremost, while concurrently identifying this gentleman. Brent also connected the incident to Domestic Violence Awareness Month, saying violence against women over a dispute involving children underscores why some women feel unsafe and unprotected. There's no way a man should be addressing a woman like this over a conflict between children, Brent said. It's unacceptable. Police said the suspect fled in a white GMC Terrain, possibly equipped with a blackout package. Officials said they're using camera footage and interviewing witnesses as they continued their search. Bettison said the suspect was known in the area and urged him to turn himself in. Police had not released the man's age or a photograph at the briefing. Brent urged community members to help officials locate the suspect while keeping the victims' well-being at the forefront. Please pray for the 7-year-old young lady, Brent said, also asking the community to pray for the mother's healing and recovery. He called on residents to help protect women, children, and families, and to hold accountable those who put them at risk.
