An investigation is underway after a mother and her two young children were found dead inside a motel Friday afternoon in southwest Houston, according to the Houston Police Department.

HOUSTON - An investigation is underway after a mother and her two young children were found dead inside a motel Friday afternoon in southwest Houston, according to the Houston Police Department.

The shooting was reported at 11:43 a.m. at the Marriott Residence Inn, located at 7807 Kirby Drive, near NRG Stadium.


Officials with the Houston Fire Department said a woman fatally shot her two kids, both believed to be under the age of 9, and then turned the gun on herself.

A person heard gunshots and called 911, according to HFD.

The woman's identity has not been released.
