New details have emerged a day after a 19-year-old was arrested in connection with a north Houston shooting in a dispute over a car seat that left a brother and sister dead in front of a toddler who investigators say is the accused shooter's child, the Harris County Sheriff's Office said.

Around 11 a.m. Sunday, deputies responded to a trailer park in the 200 block of West Canino Road, where they found the siblings lying in the driveway with multiple gunshot wounds. Both were pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators say the shooting stemmed from a domestic dispute during a child exchange. Rodriguez has been charged with capital murder.


The couple's 2-year-old child was unharmed and is now with family members.

Investigators later learned that a disturbance over a car seat occurred between Karen Rivera, 18, and Angel Javier Rodriguez, 19, when he arrived to pick up their 2-year-old child, the release states.

Rodriguez then allegedly shot Rivera multiple times, prompting her brother, Alberto Sidonio, 29, to intervene in an attempt to save her. Rodriguez then allegedly shot Sidonio as well, the agency said.


Family members attempted to save the siblings' lives before emergency crews arrived, but they succumbed to their wounds. The 2-year-old was unharmed and was picked up by another family member.
