HOUSTON - Nearly, two months after losing their father, the Salgado brothers said their lives have been turned upside down - and they are not staying quiet.

Lorenzo Salgado Araujo was fatally shot by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents on July 7, according to the Department of Homeland Security. His sons, Ronaldo and Lorenzo Salgado, are now pushing for answers and demanding accountability.

 Completely 180. I was supposed to teach in Dallas. I was supposed to live in Dallas, I was supposed to move at the beginning of August,  said Ronaldo Salgado, describing how his plans changed following his father's death.

His brother echoed that pain.

 Yeah, I'm really, you know, affected by all of this, you know, it really hurts to see my mom devastated as she is,  Lorenzo said.

 In any room where meaningful change can occur'

For Ronaldo, seeking justice means showing up wherever his father's name is being spoken.

 I want to be in any room in which my dad's name is being mentioned, any room where meaningful change can occur,  Salgado said.

Ronaldo acknowledged the broader impact his father's story has had on others, but said his family still sees him simply as their dad.

 Yes and no, you know, to me he's just, he's still our dad. Our dad was great and we never thought that we would have to share him with anyone else,  Salgado said.

Anger, forgiveness, justice

Lorenzo opened up about the emotional weight he carries each day, including his struggle with anger - and his hope to one day find forgiveness.

 I guess the wheels of justice will play out as they will. I hope I can get to a point where, because I just have so much anger in my heart and I feel it corroding me. I want to get to a point where maybe I can forgive them and I did this to my dad,  Lorenzo said.

Nearly two months after the shooting, the family said the names of the ICE agents involved have still not been fully disclosed. Ronaldo said he remains hopeful, expressing trust in the district attorney handling the case.

 We're hopeful. I have trust in District Attorney Sean Teare,  Ronaldo said.
