Houston police are investigating a fatal shooting on the 700 block of Cottage Street after a pedestrian reportedly shot a man inside his car around 1 p.m. following an altercation. HOUSTON - A 19-year-old is charged with murder after he allegedly shot a man inside his vehicle near The Heights last week. Jhoan Gomez is currently in the Harris County Jail with bond denied. On Sept. 3, he's accused of fatally shooting Drelien Washington, a man who Gomez did not personally know, according to court records. Washington was seated and unarmed in his vehicle when the shooting happened a little after 1 p.m. Sept. 3 on Cottage Street near North Main Street. His Honda Civic crashed and jumped the curb at Cottage and Archer streets as he was suffering from the gunshot wounds, according to police. Later that same evening, using surveillance video and Flock cameras, Houston police said they tracked Gomez down near Walton Street and officers tackled him in a park just a few blocks from the initial scene. Witnesses told police Washington and Gomez had some sort of altercation before Gomez allegedly fired into the vehicle several times. It's unclear exactly what led to the shooting. Gomez also faces charges of unlawful carrying of a weapon and evading arrest. He is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday morning. #click2houston #crimewatchhouston
