A man was found fatally shot inside a vehicle after it crashed early Tuesday in the 3800 block of Hickock in southeast Houston, police said.

HPD patrol officers arrived after midnight and found the vehicle crashed into a tree, according to a release from police.

Houston Fire Department responders pronounced the man dead inside the vehicle.

The call came in at about 12:30 a.m. as a major crash near Cloverland Park, with officers investigating the scene as a fatality.

 We found evidence to support that its possibly a shooting,  said Lt. J.P. Horelica at the scene Tuesday morning.

HPD confirmed the investigation as a homicide Tuesday morning in the release, saying that officers found bullet casings in the roadway.
