Polk County woman hospitalized after being attacked by 4 dogs, authorities say POLK COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- A Polk County woman was hospitalized over the weekend after authorities said she was attacked by four dogs while walking. According to the Polk County Sheriff's Office, the attack happened during the evening of Oct. 11. Authorities said the 35-year-old woman was walking along the road in the Quailcrest Drive area when she was approached by four pit bull-type dogs. The sheriff's office said the woman tried backing away from the dogs to maintain a safe distance, but one of the dogs attacked her, knocking her down. The other dogs then joined the attack. Investigators said a neighbor called 911, and the first deputy on the scene put the woman in their squad car and took her to the hospital. However, due to the severity of the woman's injuries, she was taken via Life Flight to a hospital in the Harris County area. Investigators said the owner of the dogs was cited for failure to vaccinate the animals and allowing them to roam at large. The dogs were taken to animal control, according to deputies. #abc13 #crimewatchhouston
