A U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent shot and killed a man Tuesday in Houston, sparking an investigation by the agency and the FBI into what happened in Magnolia Park.

It isn't the first time an ICE agent has shot and killed someone since President Donald Trump took office for his second term in January 2025, with immigration enforcement as a major part of his platform.

Here's a list of fatal shootings involving an ICE officer since the start of 2025:

March 15, 2025 in South Padre Island

Ruben Ray Martinez was driving a blue Ford when officers told him to stop on March 15, 2025, according to a two-page ICE incident report. Agents surrounded the vehicle and ordered Martinez and the passenger out of the car.

Instead, officials say he accelerated forward and an agent ended up on top of the car, according to the report. Then a Homeland Security Investigations supervisory special agent fired multiple shots into the car, according to the report.

Martinez was 23. Details of the shooting weren't made public until February 2026.

Sept. 12, 2025 in Franklin Park, Illinois

An ICE agent shot and killed Silverio Villegas González, who was from Mexico, after he allegedly attempted to evade arrest.
