White's defense attorney could not immediately be reached for comment.

Precinct One Constable Alan Rosen announced the news of the sentencing on social media.

 It is inexcusable how she sought to prey on the emotions of our community and abused the family of Chloe Childress who have endured an unimaginable tragedy,  Rosen said.  Let this be a warning to anyone else who ever seeks to engage in such schemes in the future. 

In a statement, the Harris County District Attorney's Office credited Rosen's office for stopping the scam in its early stages.

 We are grateful for the thorough investigative work by our partners at Harris County Constable Precinct 1,  said Courtney Fischer, a DA's office spokeswoman.  They stopped the scam before any donations were lost. We hope this accountability brings some comfort to the survivors and their families. 

White was arrested in Florida in January and extradited to Houston in April. She has remained in custody since then.

She was sentenced by District Judge Lance Long. The charge of online impersonation is a third-degree felony, and carries a potential penalty of up to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

White received 111 days credit for time already served, according to court records.
