According to records, Harris County deputies were initially called to Patin's Channelview home Wednesday night for a reported family disturbance. A family member reportedly tried to leave the home, but Patin shot the family member's car tire, then fired into the ceiling of the home when the person went back inside.

Before deputies arrived at the scene, they were reportedly made aware that a male did not want to go back to prison, he wanted to do suicide by cop, and had shot his mother's vehicle, records say.
