A man who drove to a fire scene under the influence was arrested for starting the same blaze in Thousand Oaks, the Ventura County Sheriff's Office told NBC Los Angeles Thursday.

Deputies were initially sent to the area of McCloud Avenue near Hillcrest Drive Wednesday at around 9:45 p.m. to investigate a dumpster fire. Because it was the second dumpster fire within three weeks in the same area, deputies paid close attention and later determined the blaze was suspicious.

While deputies were continuing with their arson probe at the scene, they noticed a man driving into the same location while being intoxicated. The man, later identified as 66-year-old David Boatright, was arrested for driving under the influence.

One of the deputies observed that Boatright resembled a man who was captured on a security camera, appearing to have intentionally started the dumpster fire.

The deputy's observation led the investigations to arrest Boatright for arson as well.

It was not immediately clear when Boatright would be charged.

Other details, including the suspect's connection to the area, were not available.
