According to the affidavit, on Sept.21, Memphis Police responded to a shooting in the 1100 block of Cannon Street. Upon arrival, officers located victim Anquan Gilliam, who was suffering from a gunshot wound. Gilliam was pronounced dead on the scene just before 11 p.m. Witnesses reportedly placed Christopher Banks, 35, also known as Breezy, on the scene during the timeframe of the shooting. CHRISTOPHER BANKS, 35 (SCSO) Police obtained video footage capturing three men running out the back of the residence on Cannon Street shortly after the shooting. Nearly a week later, a witness reported to police that Banks was allegedly involved in a meetup between Gillman and two other suspects for the sale of a stolen handgun. Banks was also positively identified in a six-person photo lineup. On Oct. 3, Officers located Banks at a home on South Third Street and taken into custody. Banks told investigators he was at the vacant residence and let Gillman inside, where two other suspects were present. He said Gillman was trying to sell the other two suspects a stolen handgun. Banks admitted he was at the scene when the shooting occurred; however, he said he was in the other room and only heard the commotion over the stolen gun before hearing shots and Gillman call out to him.
