WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. (WMC) - A man is in custody after a woman was rushed to the hospital following an early morning shooting Monday in West Memphis.

Around 3:00 a.m., officers responded to a reported shooting involving a woman who was receiving treatment at Regional One.

According to the preliminary investigation, the victim reported that she and the suspect, Chandler Williams, had been involved in ongoing relationship-related disputes.

The victim stated that she and a witness traveled to a residence in the 1000 block of Spears Street, where Williams allegedly fired multiple shots into their vehicle, striking her in the back and left elbow.

Following the shooting, Williams barricaded himself inside the residence. The West Memphis Police Department's Special Response Team responded to the scene and took Williams into custody.

Detectives obtained a search warrant for the residence as part of the ongoing investigation.
