(WMC) - A fugitive from justice has been apprehended one year after his accidental release thanks to the efforts of the Shelby County Sheriff's Office and the U.S. Marshals Service. The SCSO said on Wednesday around 1:25 p.m., agents and deputies apprehended Anthony Green, who had been erroneously released from custody in September 2025. SCSO said then 24-year-old Anthony Green was found guilty on September 24, 2025, in a 2020 murder case after a three-day trial. However, SCSO said the jail had not yet received or processed the information from the clerk's office before Green was let out in September 2025 after posting a $2,500 bond for an unrelated misdemeanor theft case. Officers, deputies, and agents acted on tips and executed a search warrant on the 3300 block of Knights Trail in Memphis. The 25-year-old was taken into custody and transported to 201 Poplar on charges of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, and employing a firearm with the intent to commit a felony.
