HAYWOOD COUNTY, Tenn. (WBBJ) - A Haywood County judge has ordered a man to serve his full 10-year prison sentence after revoking his probation. Judge Clayburn Peeples ruled Monday that Lafayette Boyd, 44, must serve his 10-year felony sentence in the Tennessee Department of Correction. Boyd was convicted Sept. 26, 2019, of possession of cocaine with intent to sell and was sentenced to 10 years under strict state supervision. He violated the terms of his supervision by acquiring new felony convictions in Lauderdale County. Boyd also failed drug screenings and absconded from probation. While on probation, Boyd was arrested by the Tennessee Highway Patrol on charges of possession of marijuana with intent to sell, felony evading arrest, tampering with evidence and driving on a revoked license. Following his arrest, state probation officials filed a violation of probation warrant. Boyd has prior felony convictions, and he has been given every opportunity to be rehabilitated and be a law-abiding Tennessean. We thank Judge Peeples for holding Boyd accountable, and we hope the Parole Board makes him serve every day of his 10-year sentence, said District Attorney General Frederick H. Agee. #actionnews5 #crimewatchmemphis
