MIRAMAR, Fla. - A South Florida woman whose designer handbags and other luxury items worth more than $271,000 were reported stolen says police arrested the wrong person in connection with the case. Leer en español Coach Stormy Wellington , a social media influencer who currently has over 1.6 million followers on her Instagram page, says six items - five Hermès handbags and a Chanel water bottle - were taken from her home back in August. I bought them over six years (ago) and all of them mean a lot to me, Wellington told Local 10's Rosh Lowe on Thursday. So, if anybody has my bags or knows the whereabouts of my bags, I will pay a reward to get my bags returned. Miramar police arrested a 31-year-old fashion stylist and accused him of first-degree grand theft involving property valued at more than $100,000. But Miramar Police Department Chief Delrish Moss said Thursday night that officers arrested the wrong man. Moss said the suspect accused of stealing Wellington's belongings and the man who was arrested have the same first name. According to an arrest report, Wellington told police she discovered the items were missing before leaving for a business trip. She later reported the theft to police. Wellington told investigators she had asked the alleged culprit to take one of her handbags to be professionally cleaned. She said six items were ultimately missing. The items were valued altogether at $271,938.60, according to the arrest report. Police said the handbags were later located at a business in Aventura that resells authentic designer handbags and other luxury goods. According to the arrest report, the man had brought the items to the business as a loan. Wellington said she initially felt relieved when she learned an arrest had been made. But then she saw the suspect's mugshot. That is not the gentleman that stole my bag, Wellington said. So now I got to go to the State Attorney's Office and say, Hey, you guys arrested the wrong guy.' Moss said the mix-up stemmed from information provided to authorities in September. There was a statement taken from a victim back in September, #local10 #crimewatchmiami
