MIRAMAR, FLA. (WSVN) - New surveillance video shows a man's attempted kidnapping of a girl at a Miramar gas station that led to the suspect's arrest. The terrifying incident took place outside a gas station on South State Road 7 as the 13-year-old victim was walking home on Monday afternoon. According to Miramar Police, 32-year-old Michael E. Polanco grabbed the teen from behind and put her in a headlock as he tried to walk away with her. Video shows the suspect approaching the child then wrapping his arm around her body and then her neck as he walks alongside her. Witnesses said they heard the man make nasty comments. The juvenile said the subject told the female to give him some kisses, said the dispatcher audio. That's when officers said a good Samaritan got involved, yelling at Polanco, which allowed the girl to break free and get help. Miramar Police Chief Delrish Moss provided more details of the aftermath. The kid fought, broke free, ran into the gas station, made all the noise she could, drew attention to the situation and then people were able to call for help, he said. Polanco was arrested and charged with kidnapping and battery. Why he came here, I don't know, but we're glad he was captured before he was able to do something much more sinister, said Moss. The suspect appeared in court Tuesday. He is being held without bond. #wsvn #crimewatchmiami
