Police seek black GMC Yukon after fatal Milwaukee hit-and-run Milwaukee police are searching for the driver of a black GMC Yukon who fled after fatally striking two women crossing the street in the Arlington Heights area.

The Milwaukee Police Department is investigating a double fatal hit-and-run that killed two women on the city's north side near North Teutonia Avenue and West Vienna Avenue in the Arlington Heights neighborhood.

Police said a speeding vehicle struck the two women as they were crossing the street. They are looking for a black 2007-2014 GMC Yukon. The vehicle likely has damage to the front grill, bumper and passenger side headlight, and is missing the front  GMC  grill emblem.


The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office identified the women as Amy Austin, 49, and May Daiber, 48. Both died at the scene.

Witness David Young told WISN 12 News he saw the two friends holding hands as they crossed the street just after 11 p.m.

 I'm just looking at their faces. They're so happy, and I thought they were coming here. And they got to the middle of the street, and then that's when I seen the black SUV out of my peripheral just hit both of them,  Young said.

Young said the SUV did not brake and fled after hitting the women. He described the vehicle as a  Black, definitely suburban-style vehicle, tinted windows. I couldn't see who was in it. 

Friends and family described Austin and Daiber as dear friends who played pool together for years.

 All you could use is the word beautiful. I mean, not only in appearance but also as a person,  Reggie Stephens said of Austin.

Stephens urged the driver to take responsibility.

 Come forward. You can't live with this in yourself. There's no way! And if you can, then you're not human,  Stephens said.
