During an interview with a detective, Burrell said the shooting started over a kid bullying her son and his friends who were trying to sell water on the corner, according to the complaint. Burrell said a kid had been bullying her child for about a week. She said the kid also stole some of her child's water and juices. She admitted she went to the location to look for the boy and took her kids with her to identify him. She said she was initially going to knock out the kid. When asked about shooting the 12-year-old, the complaint states that Burrell said she was trying to scare him, not kill him. Burrell then said she tried to give the gun back to her friend that owned it. She admitted to tossing the gun during the chase. When asked about swerving towards the officer during the chase, Burrell said she did not intend to injure the officer, just trying to avoid the stop sticks. She stated she was in GTA mode.
