Police search family's home

The Pocono Township Police Department requested a search warrant for the family's home in Towanda.

Located in northeastern Pennsylvania - not far from the New York State border - Towanda is about 100 miles from Pocono Township, which lies between Scranton and Allentown.

Pocono Township police said they contacted Towanda Borough police and asked them to check the property. Officers reported finding an electric utility shutoff notice posted on the front door, according to the warrant.

Police also contacted an employee of a local lawn-care company who asked if the residents were okay because he had not seen them in approximately a month, the documents stated.

The family had checked into Great Wolf Lodge on Sept. 21 and had been staying there for about three weeks before the deaths, according to police.
