Another woman alleges sexual assault at fraternity near University of Chicago The University of Chicago is set to hold a public safety meeting Wednesday night, after a woman reported this month that she was sexually assaulted at a fraternity house near campus and another woman filed a lawsuit alleging she was sexually assaulted at a different fraternity house in February. A 19-year-old college student, identified as Jane Doe, claims in a lawsuit she was sexually assaulted Feb. 7 by a fraternity member at an Alpha Delta Phi party. The suit, filed Monday, names Alpha Delta Phi Inc. and the Chicago Society of Alpha Delta Phi as defendants; the University of Chicago is not named as a defendant. Chicago police told CNN a 19-year-old woman reported she was sexually assaulted around 1 a.m. Feb. 8 inside a residence on the 5700 block of South University Avenue and later went to a hospital. Police did not name the fraternity, but Doe told officers she was assaulted at its address on that block, according to the lawsuit. The incident - now more than eight months old - is still under investigation. CNN has reached out to the University of Chicago and Alpha Delta Phi for comment and to Doe's attorneys for further information. Doe does not attend the University of Chicago, her attorney, Georgia Booth, told WLS. CNN obtained the suit from The Chicago Maroon, the university's student newspaper, which was first to report on it. The University of Chicago last week said a person of interest was banned from campus after a 21-year-old woman reported she was sexually assaulted Oct. 11 at another nearby fraternity house. Chicago police are investigating. Both allegations come as colleges and universities face heightened scrutiny over their handling of sexual assault cases amid an investigation into an alleged gang rape in 2024 at a fraternity house at Cornell University in New York.
