Close call: Video captures moment driver plows through police car door during traffic stop A close call was caught on camera after a suspected drunk driver slammed into a deputy's car door as the officer attempted to exit the vehicle. The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office in Conroe, Texas, shared video of the Oct. 24 incident on Facebook, which showed a vehicle plow through the patrol car's door at a high rate of speed and continue traveling down the road. Authorities said they were first conducting an investigation after receiving reports of a different suspected intoxicated driver along Interstate 45. The video shared by the sheriff's office showed one person being placed into the back of a patrol vehicle. A second deputy arrived on scene and was positioned in a marked patrol vehicle with its emergency lights activated to protect the deputy conducting the investigation, the sheriff's office said. As the second deputy began getting out of the patrol car, the driver of a passing vehicle failed to move over or slow down, crashing into the open door of the patrol car. The driver failed to stop after the crash. Deputies identified the vehicle that left the scene of the crash and responded to the registered address. There, they located the vehicle with damage consistent with the crash and evidence that supported the owner, 33-year-old Elizabeth Perez, as the driver. Authorities said Perez was arrested for failure to stop and render aid, passing an emergency vehicle causing bodily injury, and DUI. The driver of the initial traffic stop, 24-year-old Jacob Zamora, was also arrested for DUI. Both were taken to the Montgomery County Jail. The deputy involved in the incident was taken to the hospital and later released. No other injuries were reported. #wisn #crimewatchmilwaukee
