Avi Issacharoff, the co-creator of Netflix original series Fauda, has launched a blistering attack on Mark Ruffalo over the actor's description of Israel s conduct in Gaza as genocide, calling him a  rare combination  of  stupid  and  ignorant.  

 Mark Ruffalo saying,  Genocide, genocide.' Then, you know, there's a kind of people that are ignorant, there are some people that are stupid. He's a rare combination of those two,  Issacharoff said during an event in London benefiting the Tel Aviv University Trust.

The Israeli journalist, Middle East analyst and producer then cited two assertions in arguing that the term was inapplicable: that Israel permits 600 trucks carrying food and supplies to enter Gaza each day and that more Palestinians have been born in Gaza during the war than have been killed.

 Do you understand what it means,  genocide?'  Issacharoff asked.  Do you, as a lead actor in Hollywood, understand that when Israel allows every day 600 trucks of food and supply to go into Gaza, they are not intending or planning to kill the people of Palestine? Do you understand if more people were born during the war in Gaza than died, so no one was trying to eliminate those people? 

The truck figure seemingly alludes to data publicized by the Israeli government following the October 2025 ceasefire.

In December, Israel's Foreign Ministry said between 600 and 800 aid and commercial trucks were entering Gaza each day. Israel's coordinator of government activities in the territories has maintained that the volume of food entering Gaza exceeds international benchmarks and has blamed Hamas, distribution failures, storage problems and theft for continuing deprivation.

But United Nations agencies offer a more complicated picture.

The U. N. Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs has continued to document restrictions on humanitarian operations, rejected or delayed shipments and difficulties moving supplies from crossings to the people who need them.
