Morgan was best known for portraying Hank Loomis in the 1996 horror film  Scream.

He played Billy Loomis' father, a prominent lawyer and ex-husband of Nancy Loomis, played by Laurie Metcalf.

In the film, Hank had a secret affair with Sidney Prescott's mother, Maureen Prescott, which ultimately broke up the Loomis family and caused Billy - the original Ghostface - to descend into a murderous rage.

Morgan returned to the iconic film franchise four years later in a flashback scene in 2000's  Scream 3. 

The actor's final role was as Coleman Spencer in an episode of  Nash Bridges,  which aired in 2000.
