Mitte died by suicide on Monday, according to TMZ, who first reported the news. The investigation into Mitte's death is ongoing.

 It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of beloved actor, philanthropist and passionate disability rights advocate RJ Mitte,  his rep confirmed in a statement to Page Six Monday.

The rep noted that beyond Mitte's famous role as Walter  Flynn  White Jr. on  Breaking Bad,  Mitte served as an ambassador for United Cerebral Palsy and Shriners Children's.

 He also served as president of The Mitte Foundation, supporting philanthropic efforts and community initiatives, while using his platform to challenge stereotypes and promote greater representation for people with disabilities,  the rep added.

Mitte's final public appearance was just days before his death, when he spoke to inspirational podcast Stauros Entertainment on Oct. 2 about his role in his new movie,  Talking to Strangers,  in which he played a man with cerebral palsy involved in a love affair.

At the film's LA premiere on Sept. 30, Mitte exclusively told Page Six that he'd happily star in a  Breaking Bad  spinoff.

Mitte's former co-stars mourned the actor following news of his death, including his TV dad, Bryan Cranston.

 I'm in deep despair as I write this tonight. RJ Mitte, my sweet son on Breaking Bad has died,  Cranston wrote on Instagram on Monday, noting Mitte played Walter Jr.  with such joy and enthusiasm.

Cranston also revealed he was texting Mitte about getting together for lunch  just a few weeks ago,  but the meet-up never happened.

 I don't know if that lunch would have changed his future,  Cranston heartbreakingly wrote.
