Kerry Kennedy is processing the loss of her niece Kyle Kennedy.

Just one day after it was confirmed that Robert F. Kennedy and Ethel Kennedy's granddaughter had died last month at 42, the human rights activist shared a statement honoring her.

 Our family is heartbroken by the loss of my dear niece Kyle Francis Kennedy,  Kerry-whose late brother Michael Kennedy was Kyle's father-wrote in an Oct. 21 statement.  A bright and gentle spirit. 

The 67-year-old noted that Kyle was a  committed educator and devoted mother  to her children Conor, 12, and Declan, 10, with ex Liam Kerr.

Kerry, whose siblings also include Robert F. Kennedy Jr., went on to express her love for Kyle's loved ones, surviving nuclear family, including mom Victoria Lee Gifford as well as her siblings Michael Kennedy Jr. and Rory Gifford Kennedy.

She also expressed hope that Kyle is now resting in  eternal peace among the angels  as well as alongside her father Michael, who died in 1997 following a ski accident, and her daughter Josephine, who died just a few days after her birth in 2014.
