ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - A man has been sentenced to prison for a 2025 shooting death.

Marvin Byrd, 55, was sentenced to 17 years in the Missouri Department of Corrections for voluntary manslaughter and armed criminal action for the 2025 shooting death of 60-year-old Dwayne Thomas in St. Louis' Walnut Park West neighborhood.

Byrd and Thomas were roommates on Henner Avenue at the time of the shooting. Police said the two went to go buy supplies before attending a college football party and got into an argument. Byrd then shot Thomas in the street.

Police said that after the shooting, Byrd put the gun on the ground and waited for officers to arrive. Doorbell video captured the fatal shooting.
