EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (First Alert 4) - The Illinois State police Department made 13 arrests during a violent crime suppression detail in the Metro East.

The detail happened in St. Clair and Madison counties on Wednesday and Thursday, with efforts focused on East St. Louis and neighboring communities. The department said the operation used intelligence and technology to focus enforcement efforts on high-crime areas, violent offenders and structured criminal groups.

In total, there were 13 arrests, seven guns seized, 2 grams of cannabis seized, 6 grams of controlled substance seized and 18 total criminal charges.
