FENTON, Mo. (First Alert 4) - Police departments across the region are cracking down on teen takeovers as the number of potential gatherings continues to grow.

Extra patrols were out Friday night at the Fenton Sky Zone after a flyer circulated on social media promoting a teen takeover at that location.

It's something that local police departments and nearby businesses are hoping will stop soon.

 There's much better things to do - come here and play - you don't have to go and ruin things,  Jennifer Groves, owner of The Lazarus Pinball Museum, exclaimed.

Groves only heard about the alleged takeover earlier Friday afternoon.

 A friend sent it to me and told me,  Hey, warning for your business - heads up,'  she explained.  And I was like  oh, I didn't hear anything about this.' 

The Lazarus Pinball Museum sits just down the plaza from the Sky Zone.

 Of course, there's concern,  Groves said.  We have window fronts, so I'm not excited about any kind of [potential] damage there. 

KMOV spoke with several other businesses in the plaza who did not wish to be on camera, but who told us they decided to close their stores early on Friday after hearing about the teen takeover. Even with the extra patrol in the area, they said they didn't want to risk anything potentially happening to their staff.

St. Louis County Police emphasized they're doing their part to ensure these takeovers don't happen.

 We want to do anything we can to try to curb it or stop it before it occurs,  Lt. Corey Simons with the St. Louis County Police Department stated.

When we visited the Sky Zone location in Fenton on Friday night, several St. Louis County police cars were scattered throughout the parking lot. Those extra patrols, Simons said, were in response to that supposed takeover.

 These events have the potential to lead to disturbances, lead to damage, lead to people being injured and just all around unlawful behavior,  he said.

Simons also said there will be extra patrols out across the county over the weekend to identify any other mass gatherings that may
