(First Alert 4) - The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a deadly shooting in the Lindenwood Park neighborhood, one of the statistically safer neighborhoods in the city. I was a little shocked because nothing like that happens here, said Dave Hinson. Hinson is the owner of Killer Vintage Guitars, which is right across the block from where police were investigating a double deadly shooting that happened Thursday morning. Something that doesn't happen often in the Lindenwood Park neighborhood. It's a very stable, very safe, neighborhood, conservative, said Hinson. Police have given out limited information so far, but they say two men were shot in the 6500 block of Scanlon. One died at the hospital. The other is in critical condition. When First Alert 4 crews were there, police were seen investigating on the second floor of the building that houses Muser's Pub. We checked with the bartender, who knew nothing of what happened. Officers could also be seen talking to neighbors and looking in the bushes. Neighbors say they heard the gunshots around 3:30 in the morning. We're generally one of the safer neighborhoods in the city of St Louis, said Adam Rustige. The shooting was a shock for the head of the neighborhood association, Adam Rustige. He says while crime picked up after COVID, it's dropped considerably in tight-knit Lindenwood Park. Overall, our neighborhood does appear to try and look out for each other, said Rustige, who doubles as the leader of the neighborhood association's safety committee. Back in March, a man was shot and killed outside an apartment building on Arsenal and Ivanhoe, but before that, Lindenwood Park hadn't had a homicide since 2021. As for Thursday's shooting, police say they questioned a person of interest and will continue to investigate. We're all armed here anyway, said Hinson. We will shoot back. First Alert 4 was shown surveillance footage from Thursday morning in which you can hear gunshots, see people running away and a car speeding off. We' #firstalert4 #crimewatchstlouis
