ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - Two teenage brothers were certified to stand trial as adults on Friday. The brothers are accused of being a part of a shoot-out that resulted in the death of an uninvolved 14-year-old inside his home.

Tyron Bankhead and Tymon Bankhead, both 17, were certified to stand trial as adults.

St. Louis County prosecutors charged Tyron Bankhead with second-degree murder, three counts of armed criminal action, first-degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon. He is being held on a $1 million cash-only no 10% bond.

On Oct. 8, 2025, investigators say they were called to investigate the death of 14-year-old Duwan Morgan. Morgan was shot and killed by a stray bullet while inside his home in the 10200 block of Hobkirk Drive.

Morgan was a ninth-grade student at Northview School in the Special School District.

St. Louis County Police say their investigation found there was a shoot-out in the 10200 block of Hobkirk Drive on the night Morgan was killed. Their investigators say the shoot-out involved two groups shooting at each other.

The Bankhead brothers were in one of the two groups involved in the shooting. The Bankhead brothers, along with two other unidentified people, were caught on residential camera footage cutting through yards and could be heard discussing a tactical approach to the other group, police say.

Court documents state the fatal shot came from the direction of the Bankhead brothers' group.

A police affidavit for both brothers states police believe they are a part of an  ultra-violent  gang known as 98 SMACC.

The Bankhead brothers were 16 at the time of their arrest in November 2025. Another unidentified 16-year-old was taken into custody in October 2025 and remanded to the custody of the St. Louis County Family Court. That juvenile is also facing a second-degre
