ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - A 51-year-old man is facing charges, accused of going into a manhole to steal a water meter for scrap metal.

Anthony Lee Minor is charged with misdemeanor second-degree tampering with a utility meter and felony stealing $750 or more.

Police say Minor was captured on surveillance camera entering a manhole near the 4400 block of Natural Bridge and removing a water meter on Friday. He then left the scene, police say.

Officers say they arrested Minor later on Friday. When questioned, police say he admitted he stole the water meter so he could sell it as scrap metal.

Minor is being held without bond.
