ALTON, Ill. (First Alert 4) - A man is facing multiple charges connected to a series of crimes in Alton.

Willie L. Carter, 53, is charged in connection with four armed robberies or business break-ins that occurred between June 8 and July 7.

Investigators said that during the two armed robberies, which took place at the Hit N Run and Walgreens, both on Washington Avenue, Carter wore a mask, showed a handgun and demanded money from employees before running off.

The other alleged crimes were an attempted burglary of the Shell gas station on Brown Street and a burglary at the BP Amoco on College Avenue.

Carter is charged with two counts of armed robbery, one count of attempted burglary and one count of burglary.
